All Aboard Fund
The Portland SLSC All Aboard Fund aims to foster an inclusive community within the club by providing financial assistance to families of junior participants who are otherwise unable to afford membership fees, equipment costs, and participation in training and competitive events.
By removing financial barriers, the fund seeks to encourage greater diversity and allow all young athletes, regardless of their economic background, the opportunity to engage fully in the physical, social, and developmental benefits that the club offers.
Objective: The primary objective of the Portland Surf Life Saving Club's (PSLSC) All Aboard Fund (AAF) is to foster inclusivity by providing financial assistance to families of junior participants who are financially challenged and thus unable to afford membership fees and related costs.
Aims:
To facilitate the full participation of junior members in activities and programs offered by the Portland Surf Life Saving Club.
To subsidise associated expenses, including but not limited to, the annual membership fees and donated club-sanctioned pink safety vests, caps, and donated wetsuits.
Guidelines:
Eligibility & Allocation: The AAF will allocate resources to support the membership of junior participants who demonstrate the most acute financial need.
Application Procedure: Applications for financial assistance may be submitted to the AAF committee at registrar@portlandslsc.com.au or by verbal request to the Registrar at preseason events such as Come & Try Days.
Decision-making Authority: Determinations regarding eligibility and the extent of financial support will be made solely by the AAF Committee.
Oversight & Reporting: The AAF Committee is accountable to the PSLSC Committee and shall provide regular reports concerning the Fund’s operations and effectiveness.
Record-Keeping: Detailed records of income and expenditure related to the Fund shall be meticulously maintained by the AAF Committee.
Confidentiality: The AAF Committee is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of personal information submitted during the application process.
Limitations: It is acknowledged that the AAF has limited funds and, as such, may not be capable of fulfilling all requests for financial assistance.
Material Assistance: Successful applicants will be granted seasonal access to club-issued pink safety vests, caps, and wetsuits as part of the financial assistance package.
Committee Composition: The AAF Committee shall be comprised of the Registrar and the Treasurer of the Portland Surf Life Saving Club.
This policy is enacted to ensure transparency, fairness, and ethical governance in the administration of the All Aboard Fund. It is subject to periodic review and modification by the Portland SLSC Committee.
